CGH Wound Healing Center Opens in Dixon

Dixon, IL (December 4, 2017) With highly trained staff members to provide specialized wound care, CGH Wound Healing Center will open at the CGH Dixon Medical Center, 1321 N. Galena Ave, Dixon on January 10th.

Chronic wounds affect approximately 6.7 million people in the US and the number is expected to increase by two percent annually over the next decade. The rising incidence of chronic wounds can also be correlated to obesity, vascular disease, an aging population and radiation treatment side-effects which are often underlying causes.

“We are excited to expand this service line to Dixon,” said Jason Green, CGH Wound Healing Center Program Director, “to better meet the needs of the community.”

Michael Galle, DO is the CGH Wound Healing Center physician.   Dr. Galle has provided specialized care for patients since 2012. He has been trained by Healogics to use evidence-based medicine to help patients heal.

The advanced treatments available at the Center include negative pressure wound therapy,bio-engineered skin substitutes, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.

Hyberbaric oxygen medicine is available at 1809 N. Locust Street, Sterling. During the non-invasive procedure, patients receive treatment relaxing on a bed incased in a large see-through plastic shell as they are surrounded by 100 percent oxygen. Hyperbaric oxygen medicine may be used to treat wounds related to more than one dozen conditions including diabetic foot ulcers, radiation injuries to tissue and bone, necrotizing infections, compromised skin grafts and skin flaps and some types of arterial insufficiency and ischemia.
