CGH Receives 4-Stars for Medicare

CGH Medical Center is pleased to report that they have received a 4 Stars rating for Medicare on the Hospital Compare website.

First released in July of 2016, the website was designed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to help millions of patients and their families learn about the quality of hospitals, compare facilities in there are side by side, and ask important questions about care quality when visiting a hospital or other health care provider.

According to CMS, the new Overall hospital Quality Star Rating summarizes data from existing quality measures publicly reported on Hospital Compare into a single star rating for each hospital. The overall ratings range from one to five stars.  The more stars, the better a hospital performed on the available quality measures. This makes it easier for consumers to compare hospitals and interpret complex quality information.

“CGH Medical Center is honored to provide you the very best care,” said Dr. Paul Steinke, President and CEO of CGH Medical Center. “We are proud of this achievement and believe it is a direct result of our physicians, nurses and staffs’ dedication to outstanding patient care.”

The Hospital Compare overall rating come from data that hospitals report to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services through the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program and the Hospital Outpatient Quality Reporting program.  Some of the measures used to calculate the overall ratings are base only on date from Medicare patients and some are based on date from all patients, including process of care, healthcare associated infection, and HCAHPS Survey measures.
