CGH Health Foundation celebrates 30th anniversary Charter members and Tree of Life honorees

STERLING, IL (February 22, 2018) – Thirty years of caring was celebrated, with special recognition given to Charter Members and Tree of Life donors during Wednesday’s CGH Health Foundation Annual Appeal reception at CGH Medical Center.

Fifteen individuals, three businesses and one club were honored for being the only contributors who made a gift during the first fund drive that are continuing to give today. They were also acknowledged at special Pearl Parties hosted during the past anniversary year.

Foundation Campaign General Chairman Marty Benson announced nearly $360,000 had been raised toward the $350,000 goal. Thirty-nine individuals, businesses and groups were honored during the special Tree of Life dedication ceremony. Fifteen programs are funded through the Annual Appeal.

“Thank you to our past, present and new donors for your support in making the Sauk Valley a better place to raise your families,” said Mrs. Benson. “Your gifts are a testament to your amazing compassion for others and commitment to better health.”

During the last 30 years, nearly $5.5 million has been donated and invested right back into the community. Under-served children and adults have received free to low cost healthcare services. Wellness education centering on heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes and obesity has been a major focus. Scholarships have been awarded to several hundred college-bound students and capital items have been funded.

Eight Pine Cones and 30 Leaves were dedicated on the Tree of Life donor wall and two donors added to the Legacy Circle plaque. Honorees included:  Legacy Circle: Robert Stevens and Verna Ward; Pine Cone ($10,000 or more cumulative): Angelo’s, Scott and Judy Borchardt, Dr. Eugene Brown, Dr. John Erickson Memorial, Joe Henderson Memorial, Dick and Penny Linville, Sauk Valley Bank, Shirley Wolford, and Cindy Zander.

Donors receiving a Leaf ($1,000 or more cumulative) included: Amboy High School Girls Basketball Team, Karla Anderson, Dana Behn, Barb and Mike Brady, Bill and Bev Burkardt, Pamela Carey, Carpetland, Amy Cassens, Jerry Conley Memorial, Julie Conley Memorial, Denny and Kay Cutter, Alicia Eyrich, Penney Fillmer and John Lorentzen, Andrew and Elizabeth Foster, Lowell Grummert Memorial, Larry and Deb Haan, Dr. Flora Interone Memorial, Glenn and Marcia Keime, Shauna Kramer, Wanda Martens, James and Karen Nelson, Prophetstown High School Volleyball Team, Ed and Deb Pruis, Cassie and Dustin Sawyers, Steve and Teresa Schreiner, Robert Stevens Trust, Ruth Thompson, Two Rivers Sail and Power Squadron, Jim and Jessica White, Heather Widolff, and Verna Ward Bequest.
