Join CGH for the 4th Annual “Healthy & Bright” Holiday Lighting Ceremony and Art Show, Tuesday, November 14, 2017

Sterling, IL (November 8, 2017) - CGH Medical Center and the CGH Auxiliary cordially invite the public to the fourth annual “Healthy & Bright” Holiday Lighting Ceremony to be held on Tuesday, November 14. The event is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. in the Main Clinic Lobby, located at 101 E. Miller Road, Sterling.  Help us light up Sterling as thousands of holiday lights illuminate CGH Medical Center and the CGH Main Clinic.

The ceremonial lighting will take place at 5:45 p.m. Enjoy the holiday lights on the exterior of the hospital and clinic, as well as the lit trees along Locust Street and East LeFevre Road.

We also welcome the Morrison High School Holiday Pops group “Dodeca,” which will be performing at 5 pm.  Dodeca stands for the Greek name 12, representing the 12 singers in the group, and 12 notes of the chromatic scale.  This group sings many different styles of pop—from music of the 1950’s moving through the decades to current songs heard on today’s radio.  At times, vocal jazz is also included in the repertoire, as well as familiar Christmas carols which will be heard frequently throughout this dinner performance.

In addition, the public is invited to attend a wine and cheese reception and view our healing art gallery - “Spirit of the Heart” featuring local artist Linda Von Holten and her “Liquid Conversion” showing.

Linda Von Holten continually draws wonder from rich and varied life experiences - including music, visual arts, film, literature, street art, nature, and travel – channeling diverse proportions of inspiration into the artwork she creates. After fostering aspiring artists of all ages for more than two decades as an art instructor, Von Holten pulled focus from teaching to advance her own development as full time artist, establishing Artwork By LVH in 2013. Von Holten currently works primarily in acrylics, traversing a range of surfaces, subjects, and styles; her artistic canon enriched by photography and mixed media. Her next goal is to live and work as a creative in London, UK.

The purpose of the gallery is to host a venue for local artists to exhibit, and provide our patients and families with the value of the creative process of art as a healing force.  We would like to promote the proven healing and health benefits of beautiful artwork within our local hospital. Select pieces will be sold and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the CGH Auxiliary.

This event is sponsored by the CGH Medical Center Auxiliary and is committed to being green. LED light strands lead to power savings of about 90% over standard lights.

The lights will be in place from November 14 through mid-January.

We dedicate this holiday display to our patients, staff and community, and to your continued health and wellness. From all of us at CGH Medical Center…may your days be healthy and bright!
